Technology Planning - Discussion

While watching this movie consider the following questions:

 

  • How is this similar to technology planning you may have been a part of?
  • What part of planning is missing?
  • How could you compare/contrast this to how you perceive NCLB?

  • NETS Standards for Students
  • 21st Century Skills
  • Planning for Technology Integration/Implementation
  • One Districts Approach
  • We will look at this PowerPoint detailing how one district attempted/completed Technology Planning

Individual

  • Third Technology Review - Application of Instructional Technology
  • Place the review on your WIKI page.
  • Focus of article is on technology integration in schools.
  • Review the enGauge web site. It is extensive and will take you some time to become familiar with this Technology Planning site.
  • Question 1 - The enGauge 21st Century Skills are broken into four areas:
    • Digital-Age Literacies
    • Inventive Thinking
    • Effective Communication
    • High productivity
How do you feel these correlate to the curricular/educational standards we have in our schools? Please answer in our group WIKI page for enGauge1.
  • Question 2 - Where do you feel
    • you are in a stage of Technology Adoption? (Familiarization; Utilization; Integration; etc.)
    • your district is?
Please give examples.  Post this in our group WIKI page for enGauge2.
  • Review this clip from Charlie Chaplin-Modern Times
  • Compare/Contrast how the movie segment is similar to and different from what we do with the National Standards for Students/Staff and Administration in Technology.  Do this comparison on the group Modern Times Wiki page.

Study Group

  • Explore the WINNS site
  • Using the WINNS site - identify a minimum of three strengths and three weaknesses of the site in regards to Instructional Technology
  • Post your response to group WIKI page on WINNSstrengths and Weaknesses.
  • District Technology Implementation Plan Evaluation
  • Be prepared to dicuss in next weeks class any thoughts on what was good in a plan and where they fell short.
  • Lotusville Case Study
  • As a study team take a look at the Lotusville Case Study
  • As a group post your answers to the questions posed in the Lotusville group WIKI page, (no need to make a powerpoint - just answer the questions)
  • Begin work on a Technology Program Design for staff development
  • You will be creating a staff development program based on the standards - your program design needs to include a goal, objectives, strategies, benchmarks, assessment strategies and resources.  You will need to decide what staff development you will be offering and why.
  • Due on the last night of class
